This movie is a simple, lighthearted drama comedy that gives the viewers a glimpse of the interesting world of music and the fulfillment gotten from it. There were a few nice moments, a lovely chemistry between Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Dakota Johnson and very lovely voices on display. Despite the fact that the movie is a bit clichéd, it is still a nice watch that I would recommend to anyone in need of a feel good movie to inspire you to seize every opportunity that comes your way.

INSPIRATION TUESDAY: BOOK REVIEW

A BURNING By Megha Majumdar

This novel is about three unforgettable characters who seek to rise–to the middle class, to political power, to fame in the movies–and find their lives entangled in the wake of a catastrophe in contemporary India.

Jivan is a Muslim girl from the slums, determined to move up in life, posting a terrible comment about a vicious train attack by terrorists that has just taken place quickly lands her in a terrible mess. She suddenly becomes the proverbial bad guy(girl) with everyone calling for her head amid her pleas of innocence. She finds succor in two individuals: atrans actress she used to tutor, and a reporter who promises to tell her side of the story.

This novel is a rallying cry for those who are being smothered or fear being smothered by the political elite. It shines a beacon of hope to the downtrodden and helpless pawns in the game of power.

NEW RELEASE MONDAY: MOVIE REVIEW

IRRESISTIBLE

Genre: Drama, Comedy

Starring: Steve Carell, Chris Cooper, Mackenzie Davis, Topher Grace, Natasha Lyonne, and Rose Byrne

Run Time: 1hr 42min

Released: June 26th, 2020

A Democratic political strategist works the campaign for a retired veteran's bid for mayor of a small right-wing Wisconsin town. After the Democratic National Committee's top strategist Gary (Steve Carell) sees a video of a retired Marine colonel (Chris Cooper) standing up for the rights of his town's undocumented workers, Gary believes he has found the key to winning back the Heartland. However, the Republican National Committee counters him by sending in his brilliant nemesis Faith (Rose Byrne) and a local race quickly becomes a fight for the soul of America.

A mild political movie, if you are expecting the thrills of a hotly contested race, this one is not for you. But if you just want to enjoy a movie that is not too social - political heavy, then you must definitely watch this. Splashes of satirical comedy adds flavor to this movie.

FUN FRIDAY: BOOK REVIEW

UNITED STATES SPACE CORPS By Michele  Poulin

Genre: Space Fiction

This book is one of my favorite books, which makes it a great read considering the fact that I am not a fan of space fiction and sci fi in general

It's 1973 ‘C’: General Ingrid Dows, the commander of the newly formed United States Space Corps, has just returned from a two-year mission to Mars and is now working hard to shape her new command and continue to lead the American space program.  While a few Earth-bound crises will also occupy her, she will prepare the United States for its next big adventure in Space: a manned return exploration mission to Jupiter and Saturn.  What will its crew discover during such a journey?

FUN FRIDAY: TV SERIES

THE 100

Genre :Sci Fi, Mystery, Drama

Starring: Eliza Taylor, Paige Turco, Thomas McDonell, Eli Goree, Marie Avgeropoulos, Bob Morley, Kelly Hu

Run Time : 1 hr

Seasons: 7 (2014 -?)

The series to be reviewed today is my all time favorite series. It's one of my few exceptions to my aversion to Sci Fi

It is set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, when a spaceship housing humanitys lone survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth in hopes of possibly re-populating the planet.                                    Culled from imdb

Clashes with the native population quickly spiral out of control over the course of suspense filled, heart stopping seasons.

It's a recommended must watch

Have a great weekend. Do not forget to rate the series

INSPIRATION TUESDAY: BOOK REVIEW

An Honourable Fake By Terry Morgan

Genre: Inspirational

Published: Feb. 15, 2017

Words: 103,600

Language: English

ISBN: 9781370550975

Gabriel Joshua has risen from the Makoko slums of Lagos, Nigeria, to become an internationally acclaimed speaker on African poverty, the economy, terrorism, corruption and fraud. But being a hero for some means becoming an enemy to others who see him as a threat to their own power.

This novel is thrilling tale of a man battles with the system (political and corrupt) seeking to see him fail in the quest to bring the many problems of the continent to the consciousness of the world. A strong plot which every African can relate to and a promise of a better future makes this book a must read.
