NEW RELEASE MONDAY: MOVIE REVIEW

AN AMERICAN PICKLE
GENRE: Comedy
STARRING: Seth Rogen,  Sarah Snook
RUN TIME: 1hr 29min
RELEASED: August 6th, 2020

The film follows Herschel Greenbaum, a struggling Ashkenazi laborer who emigrates from his shtetl to America in 1920 with dreams of building a better life for his beloved family. One day, while working at his factory job, he falls into a vat of pickles and is brined for 100 years. The brine preserves him perfectly and when he emerges in present-day Brooklyn, he finds that he hasn’t aged a day. But when he seeks out his family, he is horrified to learn that his only surviving relative is his great-grandson, Ben Greenbaum, a mild-mannered computer programmer whom Herschel can’t even begin to understand

This movie is a ridiculous take on the life of a man transferred from the world of 1920's to the modern world. It chronicles his journey in the new world while dealing with his orphaned great grandson attempts to sabotage him at every turn and his eventual realization that he and his relative are one and the same. A good movie for self reflection.
